New Blogger On The Block

This week’s New Blog on the Block is Senny Sen .
Why did you decide to start a blog?
I began blogging as an escape from my tumultuous marriage. For years, my best friend encouraged me to tell my story because not only was it salacious but it revealed issues that so many people would rather sweep under the rug. She knew I wasn't alone. With a nervous heart, I embarked in unfamiliar territory. The more I blogged the more I realized I was actually helping people who were in similar situations. Women began reaching out to me seeking advice and words of encouragement. The blog quickly evolved into more than just about my marriage. I began tackling the darker side of relationships while offering solutions on how to survive them.
When people come to your blog, what will they find?
The blog is separated into two parts; exposing and surviving. Under the heading exposing, I tackle the darker side of relationships in a two prong approach. Readers can journey through my marriage from infancy to crazy in the series "Married to Him". Our most intimate and personal problems are presented in story form. The second approach in exposing is traditional posts on specific issues seen in the darker side. The surviving section is where I offer advice and encouragement on moving on or coping. Regardless of a person's decision to stay in a relationship or leave, there is a silver lining and I offer solutions to help them find it.
What's the promise you make to people who visit your blog?
My readers are promised to be shocked, amazed, saddened, rejuvenated, encouraged, entertained, and informed. The "Married to Him" series alone will invoke all these feelings. The other exposing and surviving posts will either educate or uplift you.
Who are your blogging inspirations or heroes/ heroines ?
I am inspired by Very Smart Brothas, Curly Nikki, and Black and Married with Kids. I love VSB's style! As a blogger, they show me I don't have to conform to the norm. I am free to stay true to my real self. They speak their mind freely and always make salient points. I love Curly Nikki's story. While I am not part of the natural community, I like her blog set-up and style. In my opinion, it screams professionalism. Black and Married with Kids are the polar opposite of my blog's topic. I love the way they use social media to engage their readers and develop a community (e.g. their weekly twitter chat on marriage). All three have a done an excellent job in obtaining loyal readers.
